Ramona McKoy-Cummings, foreign language teacher at Lake View High School, was named the district’s 2014-2015 Teacher of the Year at the annual banquet held on Monday, September 22, 2014. Mrs. McKoy-Cummings and seven colleagues representing their schools attended the banquet with district administrators, local board members, and special guests of the honorees.
The annual banquet was held in the J.V. Martin cafeteria. After a delicious dinner was served, each principal announced his/her school representative and shared attributes that contributed to their selection by their peers. Each school’s 2014-2015 Teacher of the Year representative was presented with a crystal gift from the Board of Trustees and the Horace Mann Insurance Agency recognized each recipient with a monetary award.
Dillon School District Four Superintendent, Douglas Ray Rogers, shared his admiration and appreciation to all candidates before announcing the district winner. As the district’s 2014-2015 District Teacher of the Year, Mrs. McKoy-Cummings received $1,000 and a watch with engraving denoting this honor.
As the district’s representative, Mrs. McKoy-Cummings’ application packet will be submitted to the South Carolina Department of Education for the statewide competition in April.
